Recent Man Things

Recently, I've been putting the man to bed most every night as Lindsey is feeling less and less active at night. At first he was reluctant to let me, but now (about a week in) he prefers it - which of course I love. I have to make sure the light is on in his room a few minutes before night night time in order for the stars on his ceiling to glow. When I walk in there with him, turn on the fan and sit down he says in his man accent "Staoowws". And we look at them for awhile before actually going to sleep. It's great.

Yesterday he started this thing...we were trying to pump him up about eating lunch so Lindsey said "Wanna eat a hotdog?" and it started.
"HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DOG"
Today he did it again, and we weren't even eating hotdogs! But its really realy cute.

What else...oh. Well tomorrow is Easter so Lindsey went out and got us men some candy and treats. She got me chocolate and the man well so chocolate but also this really awesome bubble blower that looks like a little baby dragon. Last night we broke open all these things because we can't wait around here. It's not that we're impatient, its that we like giving too much. So...we were eating some M&M's and the man was handing them out to me and Linz and then all the sudden he turns around to the dragon, opens his mouth and puts an M&M in the little mouth hole where the bubbles come out. Lindsey and I looked at each other and just sighed in awe of his cuteness and wonderfulness.

He's growing up before our eyes and its really great. I wonder sometimes if I spend enough time with him. I work a lot, just like a lot of dads, in hopes of taking our family to a better place. I'm home every night, even if for a few hours. I love wrestling with him. He loves it too. I hope he is content with his little life, I think he is.

How to Put The Man to Sleep

First, give him a 5-10 min warning by saying "almost time for night night!". To this he usually responds by saying "ny ny". When 9:00 rolls around you've gotta make sure you change his diaper so he goes out with a clean slate. He will blow kisses to whoever is not putting him to bed then rest his head on the person's shoulder who is. Sometimes if he's really drained he'll do these things at the same time. :0)

In his bedroom. Make sure the fan is on so no outside noise wakes him prematurely. Then you get to sing to him! The only rule is that you have to start with "Hush little baby". From there Lindsey likes to switch it up while I prefer to stick with "Daughters". Don't know why really, but we both like that song so...yep. After you're done singing and swaying he should be pretty settled in and ready to sleep. I always ask for a kiss before putting him in his crib and I, of course, always get one. :o) The "Mmmm" noise he will start about 3 seconds before the kiss itself. And if he's in the kissy mood (not too tired) you'll probably get 3 or 4 kisses in a row. Then you put him down, say "here's Mootina" while pressing her against his side and cover him up. To ensure a smooth getaway, I rub his back for about 30 seconds and whisper "I love you baby, goodnight". And it seems to work. Walk out the door, close it quietly so the cat doesn't get in and you're done! Now you can wish he was still awake and with you. Ha!
